Where do the funds I raise go? 10 July 2024 04:00 Updated Unlike some other NGOs which are government-funded, all our work is funded competitively, either through grants, fee-for-service income, and generous donations like those from our supporters. As a research organisation with many programs, funds are distributed across our portfolio, which directly funds our innovative mental health research, clinical treatments and education programs - donations ensure we can continue to scale our programs and create better mental health for everyone.Finding the best ways to help people is critical, and through research and evaluation, our aim is to find new and better ways of improving mental health and reducing suicide, including improving access for those people who don’t seek help for a range of reasons. All the funds raised for Black Dog Institute support this. Funds raised through this year’s One Foot Forward Campaign are being used in the following 4 areas: ACCESSProviding Australians living with anxiety and depression with access to our app, myNewWay, to help improve their mental wellbeing. INFORMHelping community presenters reach schools to talk about mental health, why it's important and where to find support. RESEARCHHelping us to fund critical research to teach children with symptoms of anxiety and depression healthier ways of thinking. SUPPORTSupporting innovative research in suicide prevention programs to help people with suicidal thoughts seek support when they need it the most.
